Lawrence A. Kogan
Lawrence A. Kogan is an international business, trade and regulatory attorney
licensed to practice law in the States of New York and New Jersey and the
District of Colombia. Mr. Kogan has counseled public as well as private closely
held international businesses operating within the commercial and financial
sectors for more than seventeen years, specializing in the areas of business,
commercial, corporate, customs, tax and trade law. During the past several
years, he engaged in international trade work on behalf of a coalition of
prominent U.S. trade associations, which involved extensive research and
analysis of foreign and domestic environment, health and food safety regulations
and related product and process standards that were being utilized by foreign
governments as disguised technical barriers to international trade. He has also
advised Bush Administration officials, Congressional subcommittee chairs and
foreign trade officials about WTO, EU and US regulatory, technical standards,
international environmental treaty and customary international law issues. Mr.
Kogan prepared three globally recognized white papers and five international
journal articles discussing such issues.
Mr. Kogan has been a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New
York since 1988, and has recently served as a member of the International Trade
Committee and as a liaison to the International Environmental Law Committee
since September 2003. He is also a member of the Customs and International Trade
Bar Association, a co-reporter for the International Law Association, American
Branch, Committee on the Formation of Rules of Customary International Law, and
a member of the U.S. Advisory Group on Rulemaking, in connection with the
American Bar Association’s Project on EU Administrative Law and Process.
Mr. Kogan obtained his law degree from the University of Miami School Of Law,
Coral Gables, Florida, his masters of laws in taxation from Georgetown
University, Washington, DC, and his Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy and
Political Theory from Boston University College of Liberal Arts, Boston,
Massachusetts. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree at the John C.
Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall
University, South Orange, New Jersey.
